About 1948 Berlin Airlift Throws a Lifeline to West Germans

After World War II when the victorious Allies divided up the former Germany, the city of Berlin was also divided.  West Berlin, which consisted of the Allies' zones other than the Soviet Union zone of East Berlin, was totally surrounded by East Germany.  Food and supplies came in by road and rail until the day in 1948 when the Soviet Union blocked this access.  The United States and Great Britain responded by organizing a massive airlift to fly in necessary supplies.  Test your knowledge of this unprecedented airlift.
